it’s race weekend!!

this weekend is finally here.  the weekend that i have waited for and looked forward to for the past 3 months is here, and it has been exciting so far.  yesterday raquel, jena, and i went to the expo to get our race packets.  to say that i was just a little excited is a huge understatement.  i had never been to an expo before and couldn’t wait to see all of the stuff, buy some cool things, and of course get my race packet.  walking around the place, i was like a kid in a candy store.  i couldn’t get enough it.  however, i have to say, the highlight of the expo was this:

this is jamie.  jamie left a comment on one of my posts telling me that she had found my blog and would be at the expo promoting the mountain home marathon.  she said that she would love to meet me.  so, that was priority numero uno for me on expo day.  how freakin cool is that?!?!?  she was so sweet and i loved loved loved getting to meet here.  isn’t she beautiful?  well i can tell you that she is just as awesome as she looks.  the whole experience of meeting her added so much to my race weekend experience.  jamie, thank you so much for leaving that comment!!  you rock!!!

the merchandise at the expo was fabulous.  i spent much more money than i needed to, but i could have gone crazy in that place.  i wanted everything.  but i managed to keep the reigns pulled in a little, lol.  here are a few pics from the day.

check out my sweet shoe bling!!

cool stuff, huh?  it was a great day.  today has been even more exciting.  today, my bestie raquel ran in her very first 5K.  today’s race was the kickoff event for marathon weekend.  she started running a couple of months ago.  it was rocky at first.  she didn’t like it, it hurt, etc.  but i just kept telling her to stick with it, make it past the first few weeks, and things would be different.  and i was right.  she actually enjoys running now, and has been excited about her first race.  now that it’s over, i think she may be hooked.  she said she loved it, and she did awesome!! i was so very proud of her.  hell, i actually got teary eyed when she was coming up on the finish line.  i remember what my first 5K was like, how it felt, how excited i was.  and i feel so proud and priviledged to have been a part of her first experience.  i can’t even begin to explain how excited i was for her and how proud of i am of her.  she is amazing!!  as much as i loved being on the sideline cheering for her, i can’t wait to run our first race together.  it’s gonna be awesome!

mayor and sheriff!!!

so that has been the day so far.  now i sit and wait for tomorrow.  i’m so excited and i can’t wait to start getting all of my stuff ready.  i have to admit, though, that i’m a little sad too.  this whole experience for the past few months has been amazing.  and i’m gonna be sad when it’s over.  but for now, i’m trying to just enjoy every single minute of it.
